Request a befriender

If you feel you could benefit from our service and would like to refer yourself or you wish to refer someone else, please complete our referral form below. By making a referral to us, you agree that the person you are referring:

• lives in Dumfries and Galloway
• lives alone 
• has no more than one social visit each week (not including paid care workers)
• does not go out more than once a week (apart from appointments).

FOR THE REFERRER

The Data Protection Act places obligations on collators of personal information and lays down principles for its use. One principle states that information must be processed fairly and lawfully, which means that you are entitled to know how we intend to use any information you provide.

• We will record your information on our database and use it in accordance with the principles of the Data Protection Act 1998.
• We will use the information to help us in assessing your requirements and in monitoring and improving our service.
• We will never sell your personal details or give them to anyone else unless it is necessary to do so to comply with the law or police investigation.
• Any information that we give to (for example) our funders will be in the form of statistics that cannot in any way identify you.
